Damp, stained, or flaking basement walls mean moisture is moving through the concrete itself. Wall waterproofing stops that moisture at the wall and manages the water behind it.
Concrete and block are porous. When Kansas clay soil stays wet against the wall, moisture migrates through and shows up as damp spots, white efflorescence, peeling paint, or rust stains. Block walls can also hold water inside their hollow cores and release it slowly.
Depending on the wall and the water source, a plan may include interior sealers and coatings, vapor barriers that direct wall moisture down to a drainage system, crack and joint sealing, or exterior waterproofing membranes where excavation makes sense. Drainage corrections outside reduce how much water ever reaches the wall.
Coatings and sealers manage moisture, but they do not hold back standing water under pressure and they do not stop a wall from moving. If the inspection finds hydrostatic pressure or structural movement, drainage or wall repair comes first.

Store-bought coatings can slow light moisture but often peel when water pressure builds behind them. Lasting results come from pairing the right sealer or barrier with drainage that relieves the pressure.
